Christopher Bissonnette is a Canadian musician/sound artist/graphic designer living and working in Windsor/Detroit. He has released four full-length albums for the independent record label Kranky, a release through Russian label Dronarivm, and a collaborative recording with David Wenngren (Library Tapes) on Home Normal. Bissonnette has actively explored visual art, sound and video in a variety of contexts ranging from art galleries to music venues. Over the past twenty years Bissonnette has continued to expand his aural vocabulary and production techniques incorporating elements of music concrete, electroacoustics, field recording and modular synthesis.

“Bissonnette’s mastery of his material is everywhere in evidence.” Dusted
“Bissonnette works on an introspective level, building pellucid arrangements that suspend you, breathless, in a perpetually meditative state.” Earplug
“Periphery should become the new benchmark of how to disassemble, reorganize, and completely reshape organic & commonplace sound into a beautiful and absorbing piece of music.” Foxy Digitalis
“It’s hard to know quite how to describe these utterly majestic micro symphonies. ‘Periphery’ is a florid gem of a record that deserves to be centre of attention. Marvellous.” Boomkat
Hi Christopher
I love your work together with David. And I was always wondering how you create those washed guitar effects.. what kind of effects do you use? It’s a real wall of sound.
Thanks for your music.
Marc
I thank Pandora, Spotify and the like for discovering artists like yourself. Big fan of “In Accordance”. Now I’ll listen to some of your other stuff! 😉
Those services prove to be double edge swords. I’m thankful that people find my work through them, but most artists receive so little revenue. Thank you for your kind words.
hallo Mr.Bissonnette
I’m really impressed by the quality of your recordings. You’re definitively among my favorite sound artists. Congratulations

Kind words. Thank you.
I’ve purchased all of your CD’s and love them all. With William Basinski, Keith Berry, Stars of the Lid and Andrew Chalk, I think you’re at the peak of the Ambient / Drone / Sound Art genre. I’ve really been loving “The Carillonneur’ from The Banal and the Profound. It’s a bit of departure for you and a great song. I’ve always loved the sounds of bells and struck objects.
Is there another album in the pipeline? If so, when do you think we can expect it?
All the best,
–David.
Thank you so much. I appreciate the support. In fact in preparing a new release which will be out in the beginning of the new year. But I’ll warn you it’s different from my previous work as it was constructed with a modular synth. I’m also completing an album more similar to my other work but I don’t have a release date as of yet.
42!
…and i thought I was getting old
Hello Christopher,
Thank you for your wonderful music. It’s like a perfect wave. I discovered drone ambient music with you and W.Basinski, M.Jules… I purchase all your release, it’s not simply, but I still have two of them. Congratulations.
